Ensuring Fair Play: New Enforcement of Scorecard Signatures at the CKSO and Beyond

At Championship Bowling, we take pride in providing a competitive and fair environment for all participants. To maintain the integrity of our events, we’re implementing stricter enforcement on an essential aspect of our scoring process: scorecard signatures. Starting with the Coach K Scholarship Open (CKSO), we’ll be closely following Rule 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 from the CB TOUR rule book, which outline the responsibility each bowler has in ensuring the accuracy of their scores.

Why This Matters

In recent events, we’ve observed issues related to unsigned or inaccurate scorecards, which have raised concerns about potential discrepancies. As a result, we are re-emphasizing that all bowlers must have both their own signature and that of their crossing partner on their scorecard. This measure isn’t just a formality; it’s a commitment to uphold fairness and trust in every competition we host.

New Guidelines for Scorecards

Here’s what every competitor needs to know:

  1. Signing Requirement: All scorecards must be signed by both the bowler and their crossing partner before they’re submitted. This ensures that both parties verify the scores for accuracy and confirm that the games have been recorded properly.

  2. Responsibility for Submission: While your crossing partner can assist by writing down or turning in the scorecard, each bowler is ultimately responsible for their own scorecard’s accuracy and submission. If a scorecard is submitted unsigned, or with an error that goes unverified, a score of 0 will be recorded for those games.

  3. Enforcement of Rule 3.1.4 and 3.1.5: According to these CB TOUR rules, the responsibility of managing and verifying one’s scorecard lies solely with the individual bowler. Relying on your crossing partner to submit an accurate scorecard without your review could result in unfortunate scoring consequences.

What This Means for Competitors

To put it simply: take charge of your scorecard. Double-check your scores, ensure signatures are in place, and make sure your card is submitted correctly. We understand that some bowlers have been accustomed to relying on their crossing partners, but this adjustment places the focus on individual responsibility to prevent any issues from arising.

Moving Forward

Our goal is to maintain a transparent and equitable experience for everyone who competes in our tournaments. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement this rule more strictly, and we thank our players for supporting an environment that values fair play and accountability.

We’re excited to see you at the CKSO and look forward to a fantastic, well-played event! For any further questions, please consult the CB TOUR rule book or reach out to our team.
